Just a random blog with things I love to make or redo for friends, family and around the house!

lamps, bulletin board and necklace organizer

So here are some random things I did the last couple days.  I had an old bulletin board that I glued fabric on and ribbon around it.

Then I contemplated making new lamps but decided we needed to save money so I took our Ikea paper lamps and put shear fabric on them.  They look great and give it a pop of color!

Then I made something to hold all of my necklaces!  So I bought a couple wood plaques I got at Hobby Lobby for $2 each and glued some cork board on it and covered with fabric.  Then I screwed in some hooks and voila!

Paint chip art and crown molding

So I saw this blog called Hope Studios where they made a paint chip mosaic.  Easy and cheap!  I got a canvas that had a design on it at Hobby Lobby for $5 so I painted it black around the edges.  Then you glue the paint chips on the canvas and mod podge it.  When dry the next day just put some stain on it with a cloth.  Super easy and gives a room a punch of color!

Random picture....put new crown molding in (styrofoam!).  Super easy to install!

headboard

I made a headboard using an old door I got for $10 at Habitat for Humanity Renovation Station.  Love that place!  I also bought a twin sized mattress cover instead of foam because it was way less expensive ($10 at Walmart) and a curtain instead of fabric at Ross.

We have a 1950s house that has a small room so yes that is a door to the left that leads into the kitchen.  I closed that off!

flip flops

I LOVE LOVE LOVE flip flops (I know they aren't good for your feet but whatever!) and I was so happy to see that you could make your own flip flop tops using scrap fabric on this blog:  The Mother Huddle!  I made a couple and I'm still going!  My husband is going to love how many I will fill our tiny closet with!

painted curtains

So I looked online to see if I could find some cheap curtains for our den and came upon this blog: Design and the City.  They painted stripes using fabric paint and drop cloths.  I bought my drop cloths for $11 each at Lowes and used Valspar Cafe Blue wall paint instead of fabric paint.  If I did it again I would buy the fabric medium so I could wash them without the paint bleeding or coming off.  Oh well!  :)
It really brightened up the room!
Next project will be putting the crown molding up!

dog collars

It's summertime here in Oklahoma and what else do you make when it's hot....new dog collars!  (I know that made no sense at all).  :)
We just adopted a black schnauzer from one of my hubby's friends that fosters dogs without homes.  So I needed to get him a new collar.
These were so easy to make!  I bought a couple collars at Walmart for $3 and then sewed ribbon on them.  I even bought coordinating ribbon for their names and phone #.  They are so cute in them!

I covered the phone numbers but I just wrote on the ribbon with a Sharpie

Sporting our new collars!

I'm pretty cute!

I'm obsessed with the ball!
